I grabbed the first volume of Japanese!Fuzors because I had a moneys off coupon from CD Japan and I am easily tempted by things. Weirdly enough, the site claimed first pressing with bonus was sold out, by my copy still had the bonus card (which is of Liger Zero Phoenix, and has a model photo rather than an anime rendering—okay then). I'm not complaining, but weird.
The episodes themselves look MUCH better than the Magna Pacific Fuzors release...though that's not hard :p. Compared to other Zoids DVDs, I'd say they're similarly decent-but-not-amazing. As a plus, they don't have the obnoxious deinterlacing issues that the first two series do (note to self: learn to use avisynth already), and they're a bit better than the one Genesis-related disc I have re: blocky problems.
The bonuses on-disc are:
Some character reference sheets (for Mach Storm on this disc); the coolest one of these is
RD making silly faces. They also suffer from DVD resolution being...unkind to images, but if you need reliable refs for clothing and other character features, they're still handy. Volume 4 claims to contain Savage Hammer ones...bets on if they remembered to include Luke or not, anyone? (I'll try to get better screenshots of these later, if anyone wants.)
Five Zoid animations against a black background. On this disc, it's the Zero running, the Zero using SLC, Lord Gale being pointy, the Killer Spiner firing, and...the Killer Spiner walking. This is cooler than I make it sound if you like to see animation outside of backgrounds and whatnot, and the SLC animation is one they cleaned up later, not the dodgy one from early on:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=QZYJ3VLTThe first version of the intro, sans any text/credits over it:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=66NDLCLGI always liked that intro's animation and song, and a few bits of it are total AMV bait. My only gripes are a) no Luke afsdfsdf and b) they crammed in Sweet being oh all nooooes, RD, when she's...not really the stand and be helpless type. Because it looked dramatic, I guess :p. I am totally hoping one of the other discs has the Self Control ending without text, because DO WANT.
Aaaand finally, CGI shots of some of the Zoids in the show from the front/side/top and so on. Like the Flash ones on the official site, but dressed up on proper backgrounds and without annoying noises. Actually, the whole menu is nicely Not Annoying, other than playing Enemy of Life on the main screen.
Hopefully this is okay to post here, as it's not distributing the full episodes or anything. ShoPro, please don't poke out my eyes.
